This is where all of my research will be going, i will be looking at different areas for research: being films, TV shows, web searches and from other sources, which will be secondary and primary sources.Isn't it Romantic.

Legacies episode 10 "there's a world where your dreams came true".
In this episode of legacies Lizzie and Josie comes back from their holiday, and Lizzie isn't happy because their dad is talking to hope Mikaelson and he wasn't there to pick them up from the airport, to which she storms of and a genie appears in her room and grants her wishes which she makes four wishes to which she goes to different parallel universes, her first wish "i wish that hope had never came to this school" which takes her to a world where the boarding school is broke and isn't at its best condition it wasn't what she wanted, her second wish "i wish the Salvatore school never existed" which took her to a different world where she was attending a public school, the third wish "i wish hope Mikaelson was never born" which took her into an apocalyptic world where all supernatural creatures are being hunted and her sister had died which wasn't what she wanted at all and then her final wish took her back to the normal world but she had to forget everything that had happened.
this has helped me with my project because we are watching the character go through the struggles of the different worlds and the effect that came with her wishes because the genie was twisting her words, and it has inspired me to create something similar but not with there being a genie but my character going through similar pain the feeling of losing someone close to them and its because of what they thought they wanted but its the complete opposite to what they wanted.

The guy who didn't like musicals.
this is a musical where a guy doesn't like musicals and he live his normal life but an asteroid hits his towns theatre and now everyone is singing and dancing and acting like they are in a musical, which he goes along with other people who hadn't been effected by the asteroid and each one gets killed of during the journey accept one, which at the end to save the world and his town he has to destroy the asteroid but ends up getting infected him self and starts to be apart of the musical but, they also break the third wall by doing things like in one scene they actors and actress shout "end scene" and the final scene they left character is trying to get help from the audience but no one helps and she gets dragged away. i got my idea from this musical strangely because it took our characters through an alien invasion but instead of going out in a big battle every one starts singing, which is clarified as a horror comedy, and the fact the main character doesn't like musicals and goes through his own living hell.
Glee episode 20 "props".
in this episode of glee Tina bangs her head which makes everyone change into different characters for example Finn the football quarter back is now Kurt who is gay and not really a popular student and Kurt is Finn and it all started of with Tina getting annoyed because she doesn't get solos and then she get knocked out and goes to the parallel universe, i took the idea of hitting the characters head on something and getting knocked out, and going into a parallel universe.
survey.
i made a survey on short films i wanted to know what genre was more popular and if short films are well watched which making the survey i found out that sci-fi and drama was the more interesting then horror, Rom-com and adventure.
all 11 people said they would watch a short film and out of those only 2 people said they hadn't seen a short film before, but would still be interested to the idea of watching one.
1 person thought parallel universes was okay and the other 10 said they where interesting.
I’d like you to revisit this page Caitlin, you have identified areas of your research such as films and television shows that have inspired you but it is a little limited at the moment. For this project you need to review a range of sources to support your project then record these sources in a bibliography.
ReplyDeleteAttempt to look at other channels such as websites, books and magazines to help develop your project. In addition, i'd like to see some primary research of your target audience in the form of surveys, focus groups and interviews.
Remember that i want you to look at a range of sources, analyse those sources (by discussing precise elements such as representation of characters, cinematography, use of sound) and apply this new found information to your own idea.
Your research has developed since i last looked, you have conducted a survey to gauge the interests of your audience. I'd like to see how this information has helped your idea? for example, if your audience likes sci-fi more than dramas what does that mean for you?

ReplyDeleteI like the things that you have decided to research as they do really relate to your idea but maybe you could go into the analysis further and like Justin said, explore other channels of media. There is a book called Every Day by David Levithan where the main character is basically just a soul and he changes what body he is everyday but he has no control over it. I think that it might help with your research as it is almost that alternate reality style of fiction. With your survey, I also think that you should explain how your results help you as it will help a lot when it comes to deciding what paths you want to go down with your project.
ReplyDeleteA lot of good research here, Caitlin. I can see how where you got your ideas and inspiration from for Conflict Desire. You've shown that came up with a variety of ideas from multiple sources. I like this, as it helped to flesh out your idea.
ReplyDeleteThe text is very detailed and explains what the sources are, what they're about, why you used them. You have very a detailed survey as well. I don't think any more needs to be added to the research. There's a great dynamic of work here. Good work Caitlin!
